Owner of Twitter Elon Musk is threatening to sue Meta over its recently announced Threads app.
Musk’s lawyer Alex Spiro claims in a letter dealing with the matter that Meta has committed “systematic, intentional and illegal embezzlement” by using Twitter’s trade secrets and information covered by its intellectual property rights. Meta is also accused of “scraping” Twitter data, i.e. large-scale collection using automation.
An online publication was the first to report on the letter Semaphore.
Musk commented on the situation on Twitter in connection with the news.
– Competition is good, cheating is not.
Spiro claims in the letter that some of the employees fired from Twitter have been assisting in the development of Threads as a “copy” of Twitter. Musk fired more than six thousand employees from Twitter after buying the company.
Spiro accuses Meta of hiring dozens of former employees who “had and still have access to Twitter’s trade secrets and other highly confidential information.”
Meta has denied the accusations.
