Elkann, Margherita Agnelli sues his sons John and Lapo: Ferrari and Juventus are also in the sights

The mother against John Elkann and his brothers for the legacy of the Lawyer’s empire

There is a cause that could redefine the entire control structure of the Elkann-Agnelli empire, including Ferrari and Juventus. This is the proceeding promoted by Margherita Agnelli against her children John, Lapo and Ginevra Elkann for the inheritance of her mother Marella Caracciolo, wife of the lawyer Gianni Agnelli: it will begin on Monday at the Court of Turin. Milano Finanza gives an account of this with a long reportage that reconstructs the long family conflict, not yet resolved. At stake is the assets of December, the company of John, Lapo and Ginevra Elkann which is the majority shareholder of the Agnelli safe (Giovanni Agnelli Bv). It is by virtue of this relationship of strength that the three brothers, with John in the lead, play a leading role in all the events of the Turin family: the Exor holding company controls Stellantis, the Gedi group, The Economist, Cnh, Iveco, Louboutin and, in fact, the two sports brands Ferrari and Juventus. A total assets of 28 billion, a treasure – that of December – estimated at over 4.6 billion. And this is the bone of contention.

The claim

Margherita Agnelli complains of having been excluded from the succession of Gianni Agnelli and of his wife Marella, that is of his parents, in favor of John, Lapo and Ginevra, designated sole heirs of the lawyer. The appellant aims to obtain the legitimate share due to the heirs, according to Italian law, ie 50% of the assets. To do this, she will try, before the judge, to prove, among other things, that her mother Marella was a resident in Italy and not in Switzerland. If Margherita manages to prevail in the case, the entire chain of command of Agnellian assets, including Ferrari and Juventus, could be called into question. The children, for their part, retort arguing that everything falls within agreements signed almost twenty years ago, under which Margherita renounced the succession in exchange for a transaction worth 1.2 billion.
