In a post-match field interview, the 27-year-old tennis star spoke about the motivator for his remaining matches in the tournament.
– All the prize money I earn here goes to the Ukrainian army. Thank you all for your support, the moved Svitolina said as the audience gave her a resounding applause.
The winner of the Monterrey tournament is promised around € 26,000. Svitolina, who made it into the top eight, has now earned € 4,854 in certainty from the tournament.
