Elina Lampela competed in a familiar windy stadium.
PASI LEISMA
In the Oulu Motonet GP races, Elina Lampela was, as expected, number one. Oulu’s Pyrinnö athlete won 425 by surpassing Silja and Saga Andersson’s 446.
It’s about a new track record. The former record of 445 was also held by Lampela.
However, the athlete’s personal record from this season is ten centimeters better, so Lampela was not completely satisfied with his race. He attempted his last three jumps from 457.
– A little disappointed. I expected more than 450 results, but this is not a disaster.
Lampela and the coach Rauli Pudas said that the wind that disturbed Raati did not help the pole vaulters on Saturday. Lampela, who lives in Helsinki but represents Oulu, also jumped with a swollen finger. Last week, my finger got stuck in the car door.
– The stitches were removed from it on Tuesday, but there was a small wound. It didn’t hurt when it was taped, Lampela says and shows her clearly swollen index finger.
Pudas regrets that the finger did not interfere with the race. He too expected a better result.
– Doing it was really good. As long as we get a few good workouts in at full speed, the result will be there. In principle, he can jump well, but it all depends on how things fall into place, commented Pudas.
Lampela will compete in Germany next week.
