Singer Elias Kaskinen turns 30 today. In honor of his birthday, an in-depth interview about the singer was published in Helsingin Sanomat, in which Kaskinen tells what he has realized about himself and his life in recent years.
Kaskinen, who has just started his solo career, was unable to attend his expected concerts in 2020, when Korona closed the concert venues and stands. His plans changed completely, as did many others.
In the midst of the stagnation, a realization dawned. The most important thing in life are good experiences and not, for example, material. When the gigs were canceled and the solo career stopped, Kaskinen focused on endurance sports, where he gained much-needed experiences of success and joy.
– I get the experience of surpassing myself from gigs, when sometimes I’m nervous to go on stage, but then I go and succeed. I missed out on these experiences during the corona virus. I started doing long hiking trips and participated in Uti’s Jääkärirykment’s Long-distance patrol skiing, where you skied in the terrain for more than 20 hours straight, Kaskinen tells Helsingin Sanomat.
With endurance sports, Kaskinen started testing his limits in the Special Forces program, where endurance and fitness are really put to the test. During the program, he said that he realized how much power he actually has.
– When watching the program, many have said that they would never be able to do that, but that is only because they have never necessarily pushed themselves to the limit, Kaskinen describes to the magazine.
– Humans have absolutely incredible resources, he adds.
The singer’s limits have been tested before, but in a different way. His resources ran out four years ago when he experienced burnout. The reason was numerous TV programs and hard gigging, which together became an exhausting equation.
Kaskinen describes that in the end he couldn’t sleep anymore and just stayed awake after waking up. That’s when he sought help. The worst phase lasted half a year, but the consequences lasted for a couple of years.
After recovering, he was supposed to focus on his solo career, but Korona prevented the promising plans. The singer’s career was interrupted again and the scheduled plans moved forward.
– My first solo album had a planned schedule, just like everything else. Even now, there are schedules for it, but over the past few years I have learned to better accept that plans can change. Maybe it’s also growing up that nowadays you can rely on the current a little more.

Now the singer has been able to play gigs again and promote his interrupted solo career. According to Helsingin Sanomat, the artist released his first single a couple of weeks ago Alive after a break of more than a year.
The song tells about life’s turmoil and the crisis of thirty.
– Maybe now in his thirties he has realized how sickly cool this is. When I go to work, I’m practically always super excited about what I’m going to do. I’m really grateful for that and I hope I can continue this for a long time.
Kaskinen became known already in his twenties from the band Elias Kaskinen & Päivänsankarit. After that, the singer moved on to a solo career. The singer has also been making songs for other artists.
Kaskinen can be seen in TV programs such as Dancing with the Stars and Special Forces.
