Eleven drivers who did not pay road tax removed from traffic in Lendelede and Kortrijk

The checks took place in the Beneluxlaan in Kortrijk and the Rijksweg in Lendelede. “A total of 2,109 vehicles were screened via VLABEL’s mobile ANPR camera. The traffic police put eleven drivers aside because they had not paid their mandatory road tax. Nine of them were able to pay their overdue road tax and the fine on the spot. The two others had their cars impounded because they were unable to pay at the time, and a total of 4,484.33 euros in back road tax was collected on the spot,” it said in a press release.

In addition, Vlabel has established a number of (tax) violations, such as driving a truck that has not been declared. The traffic police also identified other violations, such as driving with an expired inspection certificate or not being able to present a driver’s license or insurance certificate. Together, 22 drivers were pulled over for control. They all had to take a breath test, none had drunk too much.

“Given the results, it is clear that such joint actions are useful, so they will continue to be carried out in the future,” it said.
