The accident occurred on the Pacific Highway in the Suchitepequez department, about 120 kilometers from the Guatemalan capital. “Eleven people were killed: nine Cuban nationals and two Guatemalans,” the San Bautista prosecutor’s office said. Nine victims died on the spot, two died in hospital.
According to initial information, an agricultural vehicle, a motorcycle and a truck were involved in the accident. It is not yet clear how the accident could have happened. The Cuban migrants were on their way to the United States at the time of the incident.
