An Asian elephant died this week at Wildlands zoo in Emmen. According to the zoo, something went wrong during the move.
Two older elephants would be transported to another zoo. One of the animals had to be calmed down, but did not wake up from the anesthesia.
The dead elephant was brought to Utrecht for examination. The other has been taken to its new home. According to Wildlands, the death of the elephant has a lot of impact on the caretakers.
There was also positive animal news for the zoo in Emmen, because a beaver was born in Emmen for the first time. It is the first young for the couple Billy and Bella, who have been living at the zoo since March last year.
The young was born last Sunday. Since today, people can admire the little one.
