Sustainability will become increasingly important in the future, including in the automotive sector. More and more people are choosing electric cars or hybrid vehicles. The growing demand in the area of electromobility is causing vehicle manufacturers to make their offerings more diverse. In the coming year, consumers can look forward to new and fascinating electric car models.
E-mobility in Germany: Figures, trends and prospects
According to the online portal Statista, around 424,600 new electric cars were registered from January to October 2023, which is around 46,000 fewer than in the previous year. However, it should be noted that these statistics only take into account pure battery-powered cars and do not include hybrids. In addition, according to Statista, 688,100 vehicles with hybrid drives had already been registered by October 2023.
In October 2023, the proportion of newly registered petrol vehicles was 32.7 percent, while the proportion of newly registered hybrid vehicles was slightly higher at 33.8 percent. According to Statista, purely electric cars only made up 17.1 percent. Petrol is therefore still the most frequently used fuel in Germany. Nevertheless, Statista reports that the number of registered gasoline vehicles continues to decline compared to last year.
It seems that car manufacturers are increasingly focusing on the electrification of their vehicle range. According to ADAC registration statistics for 2023, the Tesla Model Y and the ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 models from the German car manufacturer Volkswagen are particularly popular. The electric car market is already promising exciting developments for 2024.
Planned for 2024: Affordable electric cars from Fiat and Citroën
As the Swiss portal blick.ch reports, Stellantis subsidiary Fiat is planning to launch an electric version of the Panda in July 2024, which will cost less than 25,000 euros. The E-Panda should have an output of around 113 hp. In addition, the 44 kWh battery will have a range of around 320 kilometers and can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes, as the portal explains. With this step, the Italian car manufacturer is expanding its range of cost-effective electric cars.
But the French car manufacturer Citroën is also planning to bring an inexpensive electric car variant onto the market at the beginning of 2024, as reported by autozeitung.de. The starting price is expected to be around 23,300 euros, and the performance will be roughly comparable to Fiat’s E-Panda. The car will also be equipped with a 44 kWh battery. The ë-C3 is expected to offer a range of up to 320 kilometers. In addition, the car focuses on comfort and is equipped with the Advanced Comfort spring-damper system. This includes shock absorbers with hydraulic stops that effectively absorb short shocks and thus increase driving comfort.
German car manufacturers in the electric car competition: AUDI A6 Avant e-tron
A new electric model from AUDI is expected to come onto the market by mid-2024. The AUDI A6 Avant e-tron is planned to be equipped with a 100 kWh battery, which will give the vehicle an impressive range of up to 700 kilometers, as reported on the online portal carwow.de. In addition, the car should be equipped with a charging capacity of 270 kW, which means that you can gain a full 300 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes of charging time.
The vehicle, which was unveiled as a concept car back in 2023, will use the same battery technology as the sedan model and offer the same choice of single- and dual-motor drive systems. The car is said to achieve an impressive output of up to 476 hp, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds.
Newcomer in the luxury segment: Cadillac Celestiq
The custom-made Cadillac Celestiq clearly belongs to the luxury segment of electric vehicles. With an expected starting price of around 320,000 euros, it will be manufactured according to the customer’s individual wishes, as reported on the online car portal cardino.de. This vehicle offers an estimated range of approximately 480 kilometers thanks to the installed Ultium battery pack and is powered by a dual-motor electric four-wheel drive system. In addition, the car should be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.8 seconds.
In the vehicle’s interior, all components are designed for luxury and comfort. Future Cadillac Celestiq owners can look forward to an adjustable power glass roof and high-quality materials. The 55-inch digital dashboard is also impressive.
