Electoral showbiz: celebrities and political fights

It is not daily or habitual, but there is a day at least every two years in which the members of Argentine entertainment level out with the rest of society and show themselves more as they are in reality. There is no make up, rating, nor are there preferences, social classes or millions of followers on social networks that place one above the other. It’s election day. That day in which everyone has to attend to the same schedule, regulations and protocol.

And in that context, in which the three top candidates, Sergio Massa, Patricia Bullrich and Javier Milei, were fighting for the Rivadavia seat conditioned by the electoral ban, the media were the ones who took the floor to give free rein to their ideologies. Simply to capture the attention of those who have the same feeling, or on the contrary, to attack those who think differently, the celebrities began a day on pure impulse with hopeful messages that motivated them to celebrate the unprecedented period of 40 years of continuous democracy in Argentina.

However, what began with almost self-help manual editorials, as the day went by, ended up being a TEG board, where everyone attacked each other, especially with the results already published, which released personal inhibitions and made the Chicanas were remotely controlled with first and last name.

A clear example of this visceral transformation was that of the driver Marcelo Tinelli, who around midday published on his Instagram story two nice photos of himself voting with his youngest son Lolo with the captions “We already voted with my friend” and “Voting with Lolito ”, and ended up distilling his poison the next day on his program with the phrase “They didn’t close my school, I stood in line like everyone else, but I was very happy”, in clear allusion to the comedian and current girlfriend of Javier Milei, Fátima Florez, whose school was cleared by the Police so that she could vote alone and without harassment from curious onlookers.

Another who became boiling as in every election was the film director Juan José Campanella, who picked up the gauntlet of “old pissers” that is awarded to the La Libertad Avanza campaign, to sensitively attack the heart of the people. In a poetic tone and under the rubric of Together for Change, a party to which he always gave his support, he published on his X account: “I am crying. It is exciting. Schools burst with ‘pissing old men’. What a country you gave us, Barba, what a country. Being Argentine is living with your heart in your mouth and emotion on your skin. And there are still four hours left!” It should be noted that the Oscar winner in recent weeks had a dialectical battle with the flat earther, cosplayer and deputy Lilia Lemoine over the hypothetical closure of the INCAA, in case she wins her party.

On the music side, the one who accelerated from zero to one hundred in a few seconds was the singer-songwriter Iván Noble. From early on he began sending messages against Milei, questioning her affinity with the Bolsonaro family. Already in Sunday’s epilogue, he restarted his discursive arsenal with two forceful tweets: “Look how the kitten begs” and “10 minutes and he passes the cap to the Breed. How gorgeous”.
Moderate in his tone, the one who posted pure neutrality was Andy Kusnetzoff, authenticating on his Instagram a photo of his day as a table authority, between smiles and croissants in an almost festive atmosphere. “Thank you to the team with whom I had to share today and to all those who voted at the table for good vibes! Long live democracy!”

Divas

There is something unobjectionable within Argentine entertainment and it is the patriotism that its top figures profess. As for the firmament of female stars, both Mirtha Legrand, Susana Giménez and Moria Casán make a cult of the vote. And wherever they are, they come to the country to fulfill their civic rights. With perfect attendance since women enjoy the universal, secret and mandatory vote, Mirtha did her thing, looking as if she were going to the most exclusive gala at the Teatro Colón and, although she respected the ban, her well-known ideology spoke for her: it was unthinkable that I can vote for Massa, for Milei and least of all for Myriam Bregman.

Not so Susana Giménez herself, who, with a more casual dress, acknowledged having arrived from Punta del Este only to vote for Patricia Bullrich, promising to return to the country only if her candidate reached the ballot, an instance that was ruled out after the vote count. but that was reactivated by joining the libertarian leader in recent days. The million dollar question now is to know if Susana will return on November 19 to show loyalty to the party that was once led by her friend and neighbor Mauricio Macri.

In the antipodes to protocol and ceremony, the one who stood out was Moria Casán, showing herself to be a fan of Massa at all times. It should be noted that the former star is the current partner of Fernando “Pato” Galmarini, historical leader of the Justicialista Party and father of Malena, the wife of the minister-candidate. That is why, when he went to the dark room, he raised his son-in-law’s flag like never before with the message: “This Sunday my vote goes to Sergio Massa because I believe in his ability to work, I believe in my flag, in my country, in the Argentines and in Unión Por La Patria. “Mommy Mo will bank you Massa.”

Another of the celebrities aligned with the thinking of “La One” was Pamela David, with a soccer nod that compared the former mayor of Tigre with the current coach of the Argentine National Team, Lionel Scaloni. “When they tell you that Massa is in the Government and does not stop inflation, tell him that Scaloni was part of Sampaoli’s coaching staff.” Message from X that was repudiated by a dozen followers who did not have the same opinion.

On the same platform : “Argentina I love you.” Lali had just fought online with the libertarian followers in the PASO that Milei won, when she wrote on her networks: “How dangerous. How sad”. Victoria Villarruel, the libertarian’s running mate, then responded: “Lali, you fill your wallet with the State,” for the shows that the singer did for some municipalities.

Another who felt the need to express herself as soon as the results came out that sent Massa to the runoff with Milei was Cinthia Fernández, who did not measure a single word in her repertoire and wrote: “What do people have in their heads? With refrigerators, a few pesos and a couple of bags of food, they are still ignorant.” Next, she continued: “Neither the pus…, nor the yachts nor the handbags, nor the clandestine parties, nor the theft of vaccines, nor corruption, nor the levels of poverty, crime and inflation make them learn.” And she closed by raising the volume of her verbiage to pure irony: “Long live the plans and the raising of lazy people, increasingly comfortable, long live removing the word ‘work and honesty’ from the dictionary. We are lost. We don’t learn more…” Cinthia entered politics two years ago, when she was a pre-candidate for the Unite space.

Sides

In today’s Argentina there is no longer a crack. Since the rise of Javier Milei to the highest levels of politics, what was previously a clear and irrational division has now become a crossfire. In military terms, the closest thing to a triple border, where the attack can come from either flank. And since the UN is not there for these tasks, the counterfigure of journalist Ángel de Brito emerges, a kind of William Boo of social networks.

The LAM driver thus ensures that all the famous people acknowledge receipt and the snowball gets bigger and bigger. As in the case of Fátima Florez, who minutes before entering to vote for her partner spoke in front of the cameras: “I am happy to receive so much love from people. I want to hug Javier now. Today we were together, and I am going to accompany him in everything.” Once the journey that included closing the school was completed so that she could vote in peace, she contacted De Brito to explain that he had nothing to do with the Police’s attitude of closing the school when she entered. In this way, he not only spread the word of the comedian, but also stirred the hornet’s nest, the retweets multiplied and he gained more followers. Round business.

At the same time, the chimenter did not stop replicating dozens of messages such as those from Verónica Lozano, Florencia Peña, Jimena Barón, Horacio Cabak, Amalia Granata and Connie Ansaldi. At the end of the day, overwhelmed by so much excitement, he summarized under the hashtag # Elections2023: “Media conclusions: Susana in Uruguay. The Toothless Wizard in Dancing. Moria one step ahead of Fátima in Olivos. The polls failed again and blah blah.”

And so ends the first part of this story about entertainment and the 2023 elections. The final outcome will come on November 19, which will begin a new government, we will see if it is Peronist or libertarian with changes. And the celebrities will be there again to, as always, tell us everything they think
