The leader of Sumar will also campaign in Madrid, another of the most controversial places due to the competition between purple and Más Madrid
Yolanda Díaz will support the Podemos candidate in the Valencian Community, Hector Illueca. the leader of Add has given a twist to your face strategy to 28M and foresees an act together with the Valencian vice president. The objective of promoting his candidacy and ensuring the entry of Unides Podem in Las Cortes, an essential condition for the revalidation of the Government of Ximo Puig. After weeks without clarifying what his role will be in the electoral race, Díaz begins to clear up doubts and will seek to secure the most important positions on the left, in the face of strong pressure from Podemos to campaign for their candidates.
After months encouraging the thesis that he would only be in those enclaves where there would be a ‘pacified’ left, with broad candidacies or where there was no dispute between different progressive forces, the Galician starred in a whole change of script. From her team they assure that she will have a very active participation in campaign, with presence in rallies in almost all days. And with a presence in especially troublesome places for the left, such as Valencian Community and Madrid. In the last few hours, talks have been held between Sumar and the Valencian federation of Podemos to address the joint act with Illueca, confirmed by different sources, although it is not yet confirmed, as logistical issues are pending.
The fact that Yolanda Díaz participates in an act in the Valencian Community, where Unides Podem faces Compromís at the polls, is representative. The leader has always shown her affinity with the Valencian party and has even come to support his candidate, Joan Baldoví, coming to cause discomfort among the purple ones. The campaign for Illueca clashes flatly with what has been defended up to now, although it is not ruled out that Díaz is also seen with leaders of Compromís. Among the candidates is the mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribowhom Díaz promised to support months ago, as this medium advanced, and after it publicly invited him to participate in his campaign.
Podem’s Survival
One of the main keys to these elections in the Valencian Community (perhaps the fundamental one) is the result of Unites Podem: if it exceeds the bar of 5% of votes that gives entry to the Corts or not. The surveys of the last months situate the candidacy of the vice-president of the Consell Héctor Illueca to shores of that dangerous threshold. Most slightly above, but some below as well.
This context is decisive for one of the most anticipated decisions of this campaign: what the vice president of the Government and leader of Sumar would do. Would you campaign for Unidas Podemos, the formation by which he came to the Governmentor by groups in the orbit of Sumar’s new project, such as Compromís?
Díaz has begun to clear up some doubts, confirming that he will campaign in these regional and municipal elections. by whom? According to the information collected by this newspaper from various sources, he has practically decided to be by Illueca’s side in at least one campaign event. The argument is avoid split image in this sector on the left and to be able to serve as a boost to the possibilities of Unides Podem to obtain parliamentary representation again. And that is one of the premises for trying to secure a third Botanic Pacta new progressive coalition government alongside PSPV and commitment.
Thus, and although it may seem paradoxical, the role of Yolanda Díaz from Madrid could be the key for Ximo Puig to continue as president of the Generalitat after a campaign to claim autonomy, to value the management of the last eight years and to move away from state debates.
Petitions of Podemos
The Valencian Community is a priority for the left. There the Podemos and IU campaign will start, in a great act next Friday, May 12 with Irene Montero, Ione Belarra either Alberto Garzon. It is also one of the squares where Podemos asked more insistently for the participation of the vice president Second of the Government
After weeks of uncertainty, Yolanda Díaz’s team contacts several Podemos territories to confirm their presence
Weeks ago, as this medium advanced, the purple executive transferred a formal request to Díaz to go to places like Valencia or Madrid, enclaves that are especially compromised for Yolanda Díaz, since Podemos competes electorally with Compromís and Más Madrid, respectively. Formations that, unlike Podemos, have explicitly supported Add. Finally, and after many weeks without clarifying what his role would be, his team has already contacted several territories to confirm his presence.
With Podemos in Madrid?
In addition to the Valencian Community, Yolanda Díaz will also campaign in Madrid, although he has not yet clarified with whom. Until now, the leader of Sumar has given clear signs of support for Más Madrid and has exhibited a strong harmony with her leader, Mónica García. But the situation in this square is similar to the Valencian one: Podemos does not have your entry guaranteed in the regional chamber, since the electoral barrier of 5% is not guaranteed.
If this threat were fulfilled without the Galician having supported them, The purples could carry the responsibility behind the back of the Galician of the fiasco This is one of the reasons that could tip the balance of Díaz to participate in the Podemos campaign also in the capital. Another reason is the good harmony that he keeps with Alejandra Jacintopurple candidate for the Presidency and one of the voices within the party that opted to reduce the confrontation with the second vice president.
Without yet knowing the details of their plans in the capital, those around Díaz have confirmed their presence at the Pradera de San Isidro festival in Madrid on May 15; an appointment that will take place already within the electoral campaign and where he will be seen with different political figures. Already in previous editions, the leader was with leaders of Podemos and Más Madrid on the same day.
It has been wonderful to be able to live and enjoy this first San Isidro in Madrid after the pandemic.
Gathering together with joy and laughing together in the Pradera today is the best way to pay homage to that great woman from Madrid who will always be in our memory: Almudena Grandes. pic.twitter.com/Wcrx3vbggr

Illueca and Jacinto also have another point in common: both are specialized in housing, a central issue in this electoral campaign. While the Podemos candidate is a specialist lawyer in this matter-she occupies the State Secretary of Right to Housing of Podemos-, Illueca has deployed housing policies during his time as Vice President and Housing Counselor.
