For the first time in two years, we can go to the polls again today, this time for the provincial councils and water boards. Whether those elections live in the region? NH News reporter Nina Honig visited polling stations in Haarlemmermeer and Amstelland.
At the polling station in Oude Meer – one of the hamlets in Haarlemmermeer with only a few hundred inhabitants – it is not busy, but it is running smoothly. “Someone walks in every two to three minutes,” says Nina.
You have to be patient in Amstelveen, especially if you want to vote in the De Bolder community centre. At times, voters even had to wait 20 minutes before being handed the ballot paper. And then some people are willing to tell us what they take into account when they color that ball red.
