The sensation of the municipal elections in Enkhuizen, Chris Segerius, has been hospitalized with heart complaints. “Suddenly I wasn’t allowed anything anymore and before I knew it I was in the ambulance,” he says from his hospital bed.
Segerius was with his party the surprise during the Enkhuizer elections. To his own surprise, he also won two seats. But because he was the only candidate, he had to take that second seat hand in again†
But his goal had been achieved, a seat on the city council. He wants to make public that the Enkhuizerzand recreation area is wrongly way too little money done by hand. But he will most likely have to pass up the installation in the city council next week.
Short of breath
We will call him after reporting the NHD† “I was a bit short of breath and went to the doctor for that. He heard fluid behind my lungs and prescribed diuretics,” Segerius says. “I tested negative for corona, and came back to the doctor. A heart film was made, and then it turned out that it was very wrong.
He couldn’t do anything anymore, and had to go straight to the hospital. “It was all very sudden. They removed the fluid behind the lungs, so it’s a bit better now. But I have to have a new heart valve, and therefore have surgery.”
Absent
“I have to have surgery in the AMC”, continues de Enkhuizer. “I am now waiting until they have room, and I think it is quite a nice procedure. So all things considered, I expect to be ready within four weeks.”
If Segerius does not take a seat on the council, his seat will go to another party, because he has no other candidates on his party’s list. But he says it won’t come to that.
“I will definitely come back to the council. I have already handed in all the documents. I will probably miss the meeting next Wednesday, and I will be sworn in at the next meeting. But if I am at home pending my surgery, I will be there on Wednesday Bee.”
And even from his hospital bed, he continues to get excited about the deal that Enkhuizen concluded with project developer EuroParcs to develop the recreation area. “That is simply not right, and there must be consequences for those involved. And there are now several parties in the council who believe that the secret documents about the deal should be made public.”
coalition talks
But first it is important to have surgery and to recover. It does not matter to him that he will probably miss the start of coalition talks. “I have told Frank van Gangelen, who is taking the lead, that I agree with his (Enkhuizen Forward!, ed.) program. I’m fine with everything, I don’t need anything. Unless the names Boland (D66) and Olierook (SP) are mentioned as potential aldermen. That’s my only objection.”
In the hospital it is not yet possible to write articles for his blog. “I have the laptop with me, but I can’t concentrate well yet. But when I’m home again, hopefully this afternoon, I’ll start writing again. And then I’ll keep everyone informed about how things are going,” said Segerius.
