Election results put a damper on entrepreneurs: “Afraid that grandchildren will open Amalia exit”

The election results are not favorable for entrepreneurs in Heiloo who have been waiting for years for an exit at the A9. That is the view of Rob van der Wal, board member of Ondernemend Heiloo. Although the plans for the A9 exit are already ready, the hot topic is always delayed. “I am afraid that we will have to wait much longer because of this result.”

The big winner of the elections, Heiloo-2000 is in the municipal council with five seats, one seat more than in the previous elections. Good news for entrepreneurs, you would say, because according to party leader Linda Verbeek, the exit is one of the most important points during the coalition negotiations.

Don’t worry about

“We are strongly in favor of the A9 exit, it is really necessary,” Verbeek told NH Nieuws. “Certainly with more housing in the offing, people must be able to leave the village in a good way. It is absolutely a priority for us.”

Nevertheless, Rob van der Wal of Ondernemend Heiloo is not reassured. The PvdA also won a seat and that party is in favor of the exit, but not if the project is even more expensive than budgeted. Municipal interests, which will retain its two seats, do not consider the connection to the highway necessary at all.

“I’m afraid there will be more resistance,” says Rob van der Wal of Ondernemend Heiloo. “Slowly, my heart is starting to sink in. We were promised years ago that this opening would come. This is especially necessary for the entrepreneurs in the Boekelermeer, but it is still not there.”

Van der Wal therefore hopes that winner Heiloo-2000 will forge a coalition with parties that are also in favor of the exit. “I hope the new city council will really show balls and do what it promises and take action, but I’m afraid that Amalia’s grandchildren will open the exit.”
