Election in France: Macron in projections ahead of Le Pen

Emanuel Macron is 44 years old and currently French President. His party is called “La République en Marche” (in German about “The Republic in Motion”). It’s only been around for six years and was founded before the last presidential election. Macron and his party like the European Union. Their aim is for the EU countries to work even more closely together.

In addition, Macron has announced that he wants to do a lot for the schools and hospitals in France and would like to equip them better. He also plans that people in France should only retire at 65 instead of 62. Some people don’t like that. They do not want older people to have to work longer. There is also criticism of Macron’s handling of the corona virus: some think that as president he simply decided on too many strict measures alone, without other politicians being able to have a say. Nevertheless, Macron is currently at the forefront in the pre-election polls.
