Horror find near Hohenmölsen in the Burgenland district.

A dead woman was found on a dirt road south of Hohenmölsen (Saxony-Anhalt) around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. A hunting tenant had left his territory and then alerted the police about his gruesome discovery.

The identity of the elderly woman is not yet known, she apparently died of bee stings.

► A police spokesman: “She probably wanted to pick flowers at the edge of the field when she was attacked and stung by numerous bees.”

An autopsy must now clarify whether the woman suffered from an allergy to bee venom or had a heart attack.

The police spokesman: “An ambulance was on site. Bee venom as a result of multiple stings was initially given as the probable cause of death.” Initial measures taken by the police to determine the identity of the woman were unsuccessful. “For example, we were in a nearby retirement home, but the woman didn’t live there.”

The spokesman: “We are trying to clarify the identity, so far there is no missing person report.”

The emergency services were also attacked by the insects during the rescue.
