The facts took place on Friday evening in Heidestraat in Westende, a sub-municipality of Middelkerke. A fire broke out in a holiday home around 7:15 p.m. An 83-year-old woman was killed in the fire.
The Bruges public prosecutor’s office appointed a fire expert and a law doctor to investigate the precise circumstances. The initial findings of the fire expert have now shown that the fire had an accidental cause. The culprit was a fallen stove.
