Elderly man dies after falling from balcony in Blankenberge

It was a passer-by who heard a dull thud in the Franchommelaan late Friday evening and then found the body of the 82-year-old man. The passer-by called the emergency services, but there was nothing they could do.

The elderly man fell from the balcony of the sixth floor of the apartment building where he lived with his wife. The woman was still receiving assistance from victim support that evening.

The public prosecutor’s office has appointed a law doctor following the death. But according to the police everything points to a tragic accident.
