That was short and exciting! At the start of the DEL, the Eisbären won against Ingolstadt 2-1 after a penalty shootout in front of 13,910 fans in the MB Arena.
Nice gesture: Before the game, the vice world champions from Berlin and Ingolstadt were each given a porcelain Buddy Bear by the Eisbären bosses. But then the gifts stopped.
Ingolstadt compact, the Eisbären with a lot of pressure on the opposing goal. But numerous overpayment opportunities remained unused. Even a power play with two more players didn’t result in a goal.
Tobi Eder on the first break: “We have more potential.” The first goal was scored by Ingolstadt’s runner-up Stachowiak in the power play (26th). Eisbären goalkeeper Jake Hildebrand blocked the first shot, but the Ingolstadt striker followed up successfully. A top keeper saves the first shot…
And once again Eisbär Marcel Noebels had to do it. The World Cup hero made it 1-1 (35th) on an assist from Finkelstein. Byron was the decisive penalty taker after goalless extra time – 2:1.
