The Eisbären get their third win in a row. In front of 16,500 spectators they celebrated a confident 5-2 win against the Kölner Haie in the Lanxess Arena. The Berliners make ice-cold use of their opportunities.
Striker Manuel Wiederer before the top game: “It will be a fast and tough game.” That’s right!
Both teams started slowly, but then the Berliners got going. Boychuk pushes the puck between the legs of former polar bear Ancicka into the goal – 1-0 (7th). And it gets even better.
After a face-off win by Byron, Ronning slams the puck into the net to make it 2-0 (28th). After a strong outnumbered game, Boychuk increased the score to 3-0 with his second goal after a sugar pass from Noebels (3 assists) (33′).
When in the majority, Pföderl fired up the goal and made it 4-0 (38th). In the final third, Cologne got within 4:2 (Glötzel 45th, Bast 47th), but Cormier then put the lid on it – 5:2 (60th).
