“It was a bit of an ugly win for us, but there were still a lot of positive things,” said the Canadian on Sunday evening after the DEL leaders celebrated their seventh win in a row. “We had to fight against resistance, but nobody gave up. I’m proud of the boys.”

You don’t have to do anything special or conjure up some highlight play, especially when you’re one goal ahead. You have to keep it simple, and we didn’t always do that well this time.”

Ultimately, the Berliners won thanks to great fighting spirit, efficient special teams and a strong performance by goalie Tobias Ancicka.
