Eintracht Frankfurt’s Rode denies thoughts of ending his career in the winter

Injured Eintracht captain

Sebastian Rode has denied a report that said he was thinking about ending his career early in the winter due to his injury situation. “I’m continuing to work on my comeback so that I can support the team again soon! It’s never been easy for me to give up, even if this has been questioned several times at ‘Bild’ since 2019, such as: B. again today in the latest article,” wrote the 33-year-old midfielder from Eintracht Frankfurt at “X“.

The “Picture“ had previously reported that Rodes was thinking about hanging up his shoes in January and not after his contract ended in the summer of 2024, but still staying close to the team for the second half of the season. Rode continued: “After my ‘final career end’ in 2021, we became Europa League winners at the end of the season. At this point perhaps a good omen for the coming months. I’ll continue to work hard to give everything for the club in my final season!”

The Eintracht captain is out once again due to a calf injury that occurred during the summer training camp and got worse in September and has only played three games and a total of 62 minutes this season. According to “Bild”, there had recently been disagreements about the timing of Rode’s comeback.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Toppmöller: Sebastian Rode will be out for “another 3 or 4 weeks”.

“It won’t be enough against Hoffenheim (Saturday; 3:30 p.m.; editor’s note). There was hope, but that won’t happen. But maybe against Helsinki (Thursday in the Conference League) then,” the paper quoted SGE club doctor Dr. Florian Pfab. Rode said: “I don’t know anything about that.” At the matchday press conference, coach Dino Toppmöller said: “Unfortunately he will be out for a little longer; there was a small setback. We’ll have to be patient for another three or four weeks.”

How many games Rode will play for Frankfurt – so far there are 268 – is open. The professional himself obviously wants to add a few more by the end of the season. With 15 games he would become Dr. Catching up with Peter Kunter at number 25 in the Eintracht record player ranking.
