Eintracht Frankfurt with zero number at Götze debut

Rio World Champion Mario Götze made his debut in the Eintracht Frankfurt outfit. The 30-year-old was allowed to play the second 45 minutes in the 0-0 draw against the Austrian first division club LASK.

For Oliver Glasner, the test match was also a special return to his old place of work. Before the game, the Hessen coach was awarded the gold medal of merit from his home state of Upper Austria for winning the Europa League title.

In the subsequent test, the 47-year-old, who coached the team from Linz from 2015 to 2019 before becoming Bundesliga coach and led from the second division to the Europa League, symbolically sent the starting XI from the final in Seville with one exception into the race.

Filip Kostic was also allowed to play right from the start. The 29-year-old had toyed with a change in recent weeks.

In the second half, the newcomers Lucas Alario and Faride Alidou were able to prove themselves. Glasner changed completely, and Götze was also there. The winning goalscorer from the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina had missed the previous friendlies due to muscular problems.
