Eintracht Frankfurt: Toppmöller explains lesson plan for Dina Ebimbe

Was missing from the SGE squad against FCH

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller gave midfielder Junior Dina Ebimbe a break for reflection in the 2-0 home win against 1. FC Heidenheim. The 22-year-old Frenchman, who has played in every Bundesliga game so far, was surprisingly not named in the matchday squad this time. Toppmöller then explained his decision against Dina Ebimbe.

“I have to honestly say that I wasn’t happy with his performance recently when it came to the investment. We all know that he is a player with incredible potential. But it’s primarily about the willingness to invest everything when I step on the pitch. Not just for myself, but for my teammates. That’s what I demand from him, if he doesn’t do that, others will play,” complained Oliver Glasner’s successor (quoted via “Picture“). Toppmöller demanded: “He is cordially invited to step on the gas again in training starting next week.” The coach cited Aurélio Buta as a positive example, celebrating himself for a successful tackle.

Dina Ebimbe initially moved to Frankfurt on loan from his training club Paris Saint-Germain in August 2022, and a year later the right-footer moved to SGE for 6.5 million euros. Dina Ebimbe quickly established himself as a regular player after his arrival at the Hessians and was only stopped by a torn syndesmotic ligament. The professional has been able to double his market value from 5 million to 10 million euros since his Frankfurt transfer. Dina Ebimbe’s contract with Eintracht runs until June 2027.

Attacker Lucas Alario is still completely out of action this season. The 31-year-old Argentine, who came from Bayer Leverkusen for 6 million euros in 2022, has so far turned out to be a transfer flop. After a knee operation, the recovered Alario was not yet a serious option for Toppmöller. “Lucas might need a moment. In training he does very well in small games, but in larger games he is still behind. It’s up to him to impose himself. “With me, everyone has the opportunity to get into the starting eleven,” said Toppmöller (quoted via “Kicker“) about the veteran with a contract until 2025.
