Eintracht Frankfurt | Toppmöller counted? SGE legend takes a stand

Just looking at the numbers is quite worrying: Eintracht Frankfurt has been waiting for a win for six competitive games and was recently eliminated from the Conference League. Head coach Dino Toppmöller is undoubtedly part of the current problem at the Hessians – but also part of the solution.

According to “Sport Bild”, the central accusation against the Frankfurt trainer was that he was too perfectionist in his ideas. Players sometimes felt overloaded by the head coach, who gave them too many tasks and instructions instead of simply letting them play football in individual situations.

Parts of the team couldn’t cope well with this tactical overload, so they sometimes played inhibited and were afraid of making their own mistakes.

He is said to have now reconsidered and adapted his perfectionist approach to the game, which Toppmöller probably brought with him from his time as an assistant coach at German record champions FC Bayern. The recent switch to the simpler 4-4-2 system in the Bundesliga game against VfL Wolfsburg (2:2) can be seen as a further indication of this.

Things are still quiet around the club in the Dino Toppmöller case despite only four wins from the last 18 competitive games and the elimination from both cup competitions.

Eintracht Frankfurt visits Heidenheim on Saturday

SGE legend Uli Stein told “Sport Bild” what currently reflects the majority opinion in and around the club: “The question of whether the coach is still the right one always arises when things aren’t going well. I’ll keep going “I’m very impressed with Toppi. He has the right playing philosophy for Eintracht, loves attacking and technically beautiful football.”

The long-time Eintracht goalkeeper recalled the first half of the season, which undoubtedly had its highlights with the highlights against FC Bayern (5:1) and RB Leipzig (1:0) and ultimately ended in a decent sixth place.

“You can see from this that when the team gets rolling, it is difficult to stop. Toppi is having his first negative experiences as head coach, but that will strengthen him,” Stein is sure.

Next Saturday (from 3:30 p.m.) the Adlerträger will continue their guest appearance at 1. FC Heidenheim.
