Eintracht Frankfurt: Stars beckons millions in premium

Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt is looking forward to the quarter-finals of the Europa League against FC Barcelona. For the professionals of the SBU, a win would not only be a sporting sensation, but apparently also a financial incentive.

The whole of Frankfurt is preparing for the game of the year. Better: “Game of the Century” when it comes to the chairman of the supervisory board, Philip Holzer. Shortly after the draw, the Hessian European Cup participants received more than 250,000 ticket inquiries – a number that impressively underlines the anticipation surrounding Eintracht.

The support in the first leg on April 7 (9 p.m. live on RTL + and in the live ticker on sport.de) is certain for coach Oliver Glasner’s team. If they progress after the first and second leg, which will take place a week later at the Camp Nou, the dream of the second European Cup victory in the club’s history will live. In 1980, the SGE won the UEFA Cup for the first time.

According to “Sport Bild”, the club’s management offered the players and supervisors a hefty bonus as additional motivation for reaching the semi-finals. Up to one million euros could be distributed and divided among the professionals and the staff. The team council around captain Sebastian Rode is negotiating with sports director Markus Krösche, it is said.

The reason for the high additional premium is, among other things, the expected additional income from ticket sales. For the home game against Barca, the local Deutsche Bank Park can be filled to capacity. 48,000 tickets are thus sold.

In addition, the SBU expects a high image growth due to the good performance in an international comparison. Already in the 2018/19 season, Frankfurt had cast its spell on all of Europe. It was only in the semifinals against eventual winners FC Chelsea after penalties that it was over.
