Last summer, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt secured the services of central defender Robin Koch for a loan fee of just 500,000 euros. The defender came from Leeds United, where he still has a contract until the summer of 2024. Now Eintracht is probably doing something prematurely with Koch.
After his loan from the English second division team, the 27-year-old immediately became a regular player for the Hessians. To date, Robin Koch has already played 23 competitive games for Eintracht across all competitions and has developed into the leading player in the Adlerträger’s defensive network.
As a “Sky” report said on Sunday, the sixth-placed team in the Bundesliga now wants to secure the services of the central defender ahead of time beyond the summer of 2024.
According to the media report, Koch will be given a permanent, long-term contract in the coming days and will thus be permanently tied to Eintracht Frankfurt. There is talk of a contract term until at least 2027, possibly even longer.
Both Frankfurt Eintracht and the player himself are only too happy to extend the collaboration, as the 1.91 m giant quickly regained his old top form under head coach Dino Toppmöller.
Koch has already played eight times for Germany
Koch moved from SC Freiburg to Leeds United for 13 million euros in the summer of 2020, but was unable to prevent his team from being relegated from the Premier League last season, even though he had also become a regular there.
Shortly before Christmas, the eight-time German senior national player also scored his first Bundesliga goal for Eintracht when he scored the celebrated winning goal in stoppage time in the 2-1 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
