Eintracht Frankfurt is the largest multi-sports club in the world with a professional football team.
The market research institute IRIS Sport researched this on behalf of the club, as Eintracht announced on Wednesday. The club received an official certificate for this.
Around 14,000 athletes are currently organized in more than 50 sports at Eintracht. This means that the Frankfurt team is not only leaving behind Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, which offer other sports in addition to professional football, but also top international clubs.
“The fact that we are now in first place worldwide is sensational,” said the new Eintracht President Mathias Beck: “We don’t want to rest on this result, we want to continue to grow. We still have a lot of potential in active sport.”
