Eintracht Frankfurt: Randal Kolo Muani talks about adjustment time

World Cup “on the back of my mind now”

533 out of a possible 630 minutes, six goals in seven Bundesliga games – that’s the record of Eintracht Frankfurt’s summer signing Randal Kolo Muani. And this was not only perceived positively in the environment of the SBU, but also gave the 23-year-old a call to the squad of the French national team for the first time. Before the upcoming Nations League Group A games against Austria and Denmark, the offensive power spoke about his move and the adjustment period in the Bundesliga as well as his ambitions in the top-class offensive of the “Équipe Tricolore”.

The center forward, who was born in Bondy, switched from FC Nantes to Hessen on a free transfer in the summer and scored directly in the first Bundesliga game for Eintracht. In the striker he is set by coach Oliver Glasner, has always acted from the start and will receive a plus in the market value update on Wednesday. When asked whether his decision for Frankfurt in the summer was the right one, the courted right-footer replied during a media round as part of the national team: “It was my decision, above all a sporting decision, to develop further in another championship. I can say it’s good. I don’t know if I’ve progressed, but I’m trying to slowly adapt to the Bundesliga. It’s a different style of play than in Ligue 1. I’m still learning.”

Kolo Muani was also in the starting eleven in the first two Champions League games against Sporting Lisbon and Olympique Marseille. His debut season in the premier class is something special, but he is even more pleased about the nomination of national coach Didier Deschamps. “It’s a stronger feeling when you’re allowed to play in blue, even stronger than in the Champions League. We have a nation behind us. We represent a country. We have two stars on the shirt. It’s more than a dream!” Even training with players of the caliber of Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann or Olivier Giroud, who are also his competitors in the offensive department, will be a special experience, according to the Eintracht professional.

Despite the big names, the striker is also optimistic about the future when it comes to the national team, hoping for regular appearances and that the first consideration will be followed by others. “Every striker has his time. You have to develop a level of trust, the list of candidates in attack is long. But I have my place now. It’s also up to me to continue to prove myself in my club in the future,” said Kolo Muani. So far, the World Cup in Qatar has not been an issue for the Frenchman, but that has now changed: “It happens very quickly. But if I’m here, it’s because I can apply for the World Cup. It’s in the back of my mind now.”
