Review of Deadline Day Transfer
Randal Kolo Muani (25) looked back in detail on his deadline day transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt to Paris Saint-Germain. “I still don’t know how I managed to sign for PSG. I didn’t even read the contract, I just signed at the bottom of each page without knowing what I was actually initialing. Everything happened at a rapid pace, there was a lot of running around in the offices. I had never experienced anything like that before. It was incredibly stressful! Some of my hair fell out that day. Maybe there are still a few things missing from my contract, I don’t know,” he said with a laugh in an interview with the magazine “Onze Mondial“.
The deal between the clubs dragged on until the end, and at one point it was even said that the move had fallen through. In the end, the SGE let Kolo Muani go for 95 million euros, even though no replacement was found. “I’m definitely glad the deal went through. There were a lot of documents that had to be sent, I sat in an office with my father and waited. And when I heard the screaming and the applause in the office, I knew it was done,” the striker recalled, adding: “When the press reported that the deal had fallen through, I was at home with my family, we were disgusted and didn’t understand what was going on.”

While Kolo Muani was directly involved in 43 goals in 50 games for Eintracht in one season, he has not yet fully arrived in PSG’s star ensemble. There are eleven scorers in 23 appearances. The high transfer fee also made the early days in Paris difficult. “It’s another pressure that I have to take on myself. I’m slowly digesting it. But I will trust you with something: in time, people will say it was a good price for Randal Kolo Muani. I know right now people are saying: 90 million for Kolo Muani, what is that? I say: you will see. “It’s very simple,” the attacker is certain.
Kolo Muani was happier at Eintracht Frankfurt than at PSG
The criticism after his move bothered him. “In Germany I was confident, so I was fulfilled on the pitch,” said Kolo Muani. “I just have to be happy and confident and everything will go like clockwork. Today I’m happy, but I’m not as happy as I was in Germany. At the beginning the criticism influenced me. I am a human being, I am not a wall, I am not a robot, I have feelings. But I’m not sad. I’m glad I’m a PSG player. But I could be better.”
Kolo Muani also wants to draw strength from criticism. “Criticism makes you develop, it’s good to hear it. It’s like advice. You have to take the criticism to heart and improve so that this very criticism disappears. That’s logic. (…) To be honest, I didn’t expect this, I didn’t expect such an influence when I came to Paris,” admitted the 13-time France international. After a game, Kolo Muani tries not to let his family influence him too much. “I try not to use my phone, I try to isolate myself from the world.”
