Krösche announces further transfers
This article was first published on Wednesday at 2:02 p.m. and was supplemented with new information about Filip Kostic during the day.
According to sports director Markus Krösche, Eintracht Frankfurt should reach the knockout stage of the Champions League despite possible prominent departures. As the manager announced in an interview with “Sport Bild”, Filip Kostic (29), Daichi Kamada (25) and Evan Ndicka (22; both contract until 2023) could leave the SBU during the summer break – and thus the three most valuable professionals. Together, the trio has a market value of 70 million euros.

In Kostic’s case, “there will be a decision soon,” said the 41-year-old. “I spoke to him on the phone last week and am in contact with his advisors. Filip did an incredible amount for us. He decides whether he leaves, stays or extends beyond 2023. If he leaves, then he will probably only do it for another Champions League club.” In the TM rumor mill, the midfielder is associated with Juventus Turin, Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan, among others.
Update 7:20 p.m.: As the “Picture” writes in a new article, the SGE doesn’t just want to counteract Juventus’ apparently serious interest with a 20 million price tag. According to the newspaper, Eintracht offers Kostic a new contract until 2026 with a salary increase from 2.5 to around 4 million euros a year.
According to Krösche, Kamada and Ndicka are also candidates for a change. “We will not prevent anything on principle, because it is part of our philosophy that we give players away when the financial conditions are right – even if it hurts to lose important players and people,” said Krösche.
Season with Champions League: Eintracht Frankfurt before further transfers
Nevertheless, the Europa League winner should not learn the lesson on his debut in the Champions League. Even if the intensity is higher than in the Bundesliga and the Europa League, he is convinced “that we can get through the group phase. You have to set a goal like that.” Krösche announced further newcomers for the coming season. Due to the international triumph and the participation in the Champions League, the Hessians can “get very experienced and strong players, but we can’t afford that at all”. And further: “The balancing act at the moment is to get reinforcements that will help us in the Champions League while maintaining the budget and the salary structure at the same time.” Establish Bundesliga”.
Krösche also announced that “something will definitely happen” on the offensive. “We need players who have solutions in the penalty area, in tight spaces and under pressure.” So far, the “Adlerträger” have taken five players for the coming season on a free transfer, and EUR 18 million have been paid for the permanent signings of (22), (25), the both previously on loan, and (21) spent.
Unrest recently arose from the statements of central defender Martin Hinteregger (29), who had explained that a summer change had been suggested to him twice this season and that “a lot had broken up” as a result. However, Krösche “cannot understand these statements, and it was certainly not the smartest way to do it. The fact is: Martin is a very important player for us, he played a big part in the title. He knows what he has in us and we know what we have in him. When he’s back after the summer break, we’ll sit down for a clear debate that will resolve that as well. Then the topic is over and it goes on. I don’t hold a grudge.” Hinteregger’s working paper in Frankfurt runs until 2024.
