Eintracht Frankfurt | Match winner Chaibi: “I can show more”

Winning goalscorer Farès Chaibi from Eintracht Frankfurt sees himself as far from having reached the end of his footballing development after strong performances such as in the Conference League game at HJK Helsinki.

“The last few weeks have gone well for me, but I can show more than I can at the moment,” said the French-born Algeria international. His dream goal into the Kreuzeck in the 31st minute against the Finnish football champions was the only goal.

The 20-year-old left winger had also hit the corner in the training days before the game in Finland. Sports director Timmo Hardung had therefore asked him to stick to it more often. For Chaibi it was the second goal for Eintracht. The Lyon-born professional is also a strong preparer. He scored twice in the 6-0 first leg win against Helsinki.

Chaibi came from French first division club FC Toulouse at the beginning of the season as cup winners. “In Toulouse I played in a similar position, so I often moved inwards on the left and then finished,” he explained. “That’s why I had the confidence to finish from there.”

With his artificial shot, Chaibi secured Eintracht’s early advancement in the Conference League. On November 30th, the Hessians now have to fight against PAOK Saloniki for victory in Group G and thus for a direct place in the round of 16. At the same time, the Greeks won 2-2 against FC Aberdeen on the fourth matchday.
