In Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-0 home win against Werder Bremen, Mario Götze was once again an asset in the SBU game. The national player impresses this season with football that is as creative as it is intense, which makes him a difference player at Eintracht.
Former world champion Andreas Möller, who, like Mario Götze, can look back on a past with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund, is extremely impressed by the way the now 30-year-old plays.
“Mario is very professional and has really rolled up his sleeves. But he hasn’t lost any of his genius as a result, he hasn’t become a workhorse. Under Oliver Glasner, start-up behavior and defensive stability are very important. He accepted that immediately. Also thanks to his very good physical fitness, he is now at this level of performance,” Möller explained to the “kicker” about the 2014 World Cup hero.
Götze is absolutely undisputed in the Hessians and, alongside Evan Ndicka, was the only Eintracht player to start in all 21 Bundesliga games this season.
In addition to the playful genius that ex-BVB star Möller continues to identify with the offensive man, he also benefits from the combative component. The new signing from last year also worked on this at his previous station PSV Eindhoven under head coach Roger Schmidt.
Götze has signed with Eintracht Frankfurt until 2025
“Obviously it’s difficult to appease all the critics. But Mario trusts in his footballing ability and has worked on his fitness. This makes many things easier for him. He travels long distances and works for the team. The key is his physical fitness,” said Möller Impressions of Götze.
The 55-year-old is certain that Götze “can play in any team” in his current condition. Referring to Eintracht, he said: “With Kamada, Lindstrom, Kolo Muani, Sow and Rode, Eintracht is a technically proficient team, which suits Mario. He came into a functioning team, which helped him to really gain a foothold. “
Last year’s World Championship driver has also long been one of the crowd’s favorites among the Frankfurt fans. Götze signed a three-year contract in the Main metropolis last summer.
