AC as a “springboard”
Luka Jovic has six goals in 18 games at AC Fiorentina, more than in any season since the €63 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. He was 24 for the Serie A club old striker at a bargain, because despite the current contract with the “Royal”, Jovic reportedly did not cost a fee. The Serbian national player consciously chose the step back to a smaller club.

“I made the decision after thinking about everything and seeing for myself what each offer got me in that moment. I decided to come to Fiorentina even though I had offers from bigger clubs,” Jovic said in an interview with the Bosnian broadcaster.atv‘ and explained that he had given up a high salary for the move. “Everyone knows I made financial sacrifices to get here.”
Jovic signed a contract with Viola until 2024 with an option for two more years – but he probably doesn’t want to stay that long. “I think that moving to Fiorentina is a good stepping stone for me to get back to my old form and to a big club again.” talked about in the Spanish media.
Move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Real Madrid came ‘too soon’ for Luka Jovic
Despite the sobering time at Real, in 51 mostly short appearances, Jovic scored three goals, Jovic has fond memories of the “royal”. “A great experience for me and I’m honored to have been part of the biggest club in the world,” said the ex-Frankfurter, but admitted: “However, I think I went to Real too early, and in that The moment I arrived and while I was at Real, Karim Benzema exploded and deservedly won the Ballon d’Or. I was unlucky at the beginning. Corona came first, then some injuries, but it was definitely a great experience for me.”

The storm competitor particularly impressed Jovic at Real times. “I don’t want to single out anyone for their playing qualities but Karim Benzema left an impression on me and certainly Luka Modric too who was always there for me. Luka is one of the greatest players in Real Madrid’s history,” said the Serbian, who helped the national team to their third World Cup appearance. “We’re going into the World Cup full of confidence,” said Jovic, who will initially face Brazil in Group G (November 24, 8:00 p.m.). “A positive result from this game can take us through the rest of the competition, and if you get through the group, anything is possible.” The other contenders are Cameroon (11/28, 11:00 a.m.) and Switzerland (12/2, 8:00 p.m.).
