Before Werner, Jordan & Co.
Due to the yellow-red card against 1.FC Union Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt had to do without Randal Kolo Muani last weekend and showed one of the weakest performances of the season in the 0:3 against VfL Bochum. The 23-year-old new signing, who came to the Main metropolis from FC Nantes on a free transfer, is an indispensable part of the SBU’s starting eleven despite strong competition in the offensive area and is one of the best reinforcements of the summer transfer window in the league – even if he doesn’t want to see it himself yet.
Kolo Muani ahead of Mané & Co: Bundesliga newcomers with the most scorers
“I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’m one of the best new signings in the Bundesliga,” said the modest Frenchman when asked “Sport1”. With seven goals in eight appearances, Kolo Muani is the best scorer of all 170 newcomers to Bundesliga clubs. Behind the Frankfurter there is already a small gap to Timo Werner (RB Leipzig), Jordan (Union Berlin), Ermedin Demirovic (FC Augsburg) and Michael Gregoritsch (SC Freiburg), who each have five scorer points on their account. Bayern’s top transfer Sadio Mané has four goals and no template.
“Of course I try to do my best and help my team-mates. Apparently I’ve been able to do that quite well so far,” Kolo Muani continues, referring to his teammates like Mario Götze. Playing with the world champion is “something extraordinary. It’s a lot of fun because he’s got great technique and he’s a big name in world football. Mario shows that class on the pitch and helps the team with his technical dexterity and skills.”
Eintracht Frankfurt: Contact with Kolo Muani was “a long time ago”
The fact that Kolo Muani, who changed clubs in the summer as one of the most valuable free transfers, decided to join Eintracht was also due to the early efforts of those responsible. “It has actually been a long time since we first made contact. At Eintracht, I was shown the prospect very early on that I could gain match practice and develop further in a family environment. That was the decisive factor in why the move to Frankfurt was the logical step for me,” said the attacker, whose transfer was announced in early March.
