Eintracht Frankfurt is hoping for a full stadium for the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 against Real Betis.
“I have great hope that politicians will grant an exemption. That would help us a lot,” said Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner after the 2-1 victory in the Bundesliga against VfL Bochum. A maximum of 25,000 fans are currently allowed to attend Hessen’s home games – that’s almost 50 percent of the stadium’s capacity.
From next Sunday, the corona restrictions for major outdoor events are to be completely eliminated in Germany anyway. This fuels the hopes of Frankfurt. “We are in contact with the authorities,” said sports director Markus Krösche. “It would be nice to have as many spectators in the stadium as possible during European Cup night. Let’s see how much politics gets involved.”
