Eintracht Frankfurt grabs BVB youngsters

Ansgar Knauff has hardly had a chance at Borussia Dortmund recently. As a result, the BVB youngster is on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt for a year and a half.

Both clubs confirmed the corresponding deal on Thursday afternoon.

“Ansgar is a talent from our own offspring who already brings a lot with him. He came to us with the desire to be able to gain more match practice as part of a loan. We would like to offer him this opportunity to develop at a high level,” explained Sebastian Kehl, head of the licensed players department and future sports director at BVB.

The loan deal runs until June 30, 2023. A purchase option or obligation was not agreed between the clubs, BVB announced.

Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche said: “Ansgar fits into our team very well with his pace and his understanding of the game and would like to take the next step in development here. He is able to help us immediately on the flanks.”

Ansgar Knauff at BVB only a reservist

Last year, Knauff had already been traded at Eintracht Frankfurt. However, a transfer did not materialize at the time.

After all, BVB wanted to keep the winger after his steep rise in the second half of the past year. Half a year later, Knauff only played a supporting role with the black and yellow.

The 20-year-old completed just 109 Bundesliga minutes under coach Marco Rose.

Knauff was last used for the BVB professionals at the end of November. At Eintracht Frankfurt, the U21 international beckons significantly more playing time.

HSV youngster Alidou not at Eintracht Frankfurt after all?

A loan from Knauff also has a direct influence on Faride Alidou from Hamburger SV, who is also traded with the Hessians.

The 20-year-old was last seen as a hot candidate for a move to Eintracht Frankfurt. Now a winter change is in all likelihood off the table.

HSV sports director Jonas Boldt indicated on Tuesday that Alidou will not move to the Main metropolis for the time being. “What Frankfurt offered for half a year wasn’t something that made us nervous,” said the 40-year-old before the DFB Cup match between HSV and 1. FC Köln on “Sky”.
