SGE “accomplished his wish”
FC Augsburg will apparently present its first winter signing shortly. According to consistent media reports, the Fuggerstadt team is about to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kristijan Jakic. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder is expected in Augsburg on Friday evening. There is a loan deal between the two clubs until the summer – according to reports, a purchase option for around 5 million euros will be part of the deal.
Update 7:21 p.m.: Eintracht made the transfer official on Friday evening. Sports director Markus Krösche said: “Kristijan Jakic has been an important mentality player in our team in recent years. He has played a big part in our successes, especially winning the Europa League in 2022. This season he is not getting the playing time he had hoped for, so we have granted his request for a loan. We wish him all the best.” Meanwhile, the Augsburgers confirmed a negotiated purchase option.

The FCA particularly appreciates the Croatian’s high level of commitment and fighting mentality, according to “Bild”. Jakic still has a contract with the SGE until June 2026. In the current season, the right-footer has only been used eight times for a total of 303 minutes. In 2021, Eintracht initially brought him on loan from Dinamo Zagreb, and a year later he signed him for 3.5 million euros.
FC Augsburg only has to pay Eintracht Frankfurt a loan fee if Jakic fails
Jakic demonstrated his sporting value for the Hessians in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, crowned by winning the Europa League – now Bundesliga rival FCA is taking advantage of the reduced status. If things go significantly better for the flexibly usable Jakic at Augsburg, this could also have a positive financial impact: According to the “Picture“There is no rental fee due if he is on the pitch regularly. And the professional himself really wants to increase his chances of being nominated for the European Championships for the Croatian selection, as they say. His likely new employer announced the extension with ex-captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (32) on Friday.
Jakic’s market value, which has since risen to a career high of 9 million euros, has recently been reduced twice to 5.5 million euros. Last summer, VfB Stuttgart reportedly vied for the Croatian’s services, but at that time a change was not yet an issue from Frankfurt’s perspective.
