Due to the already fixed separation from Oliver Glasner after the season, Eintracht Frankfurt is already intensively looking for a successor for the head coach. The SBU is said to be targeting Dino Toppmöller. But this is still on the payroll at Bayern Munich. And the people of Munich don’t want to let Julian Nagelsmann’s former assistant coach go cheaply, which obviously displeases the Frankfurters.
Dino Toppmöller is considered the hottest candidate to succeed Oliver Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt for the coming season. This is indicated by various media reports in recent days. The 42-year-old was last active as Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant coach at FC Bayern, where he was the right hand of the sacked coach from the summer of 2021 until the end of March of this year and had previously been at Nagelsmann’s side at RB Leipzig.
For the 2023/24 season, Toppmöller will probably be in charge of the fortunes of a club in the Bundesliga for the first time. He has already proven that he is up to the task as head coach at F91 Dudelingen in the first Luxembourg league and at Royal Excelsior Virton in Belgium’s lower house. However, the planned path to the Eintracht Frankfurt bench is probably even further than expected.
Because, as “Bild” reports, the transfer fee that FC Bayern is demanding for the Toppmöller, who is still tied in Munich until 2024, stands in the way of employment. Up to 500,000 euros are said to be due for the son of long-time Bundesliga player and later cult coach Klaus Toppmöller.
Too much if it’s up to those in charge of the SGE. As it goes on to say in “Bild”, those responsible for Eintracht do not want to pay the said sum. One of the reasons: When Toppmöller and Nagelsmann switched from RB Leipzig to the German record champions, “only” 200,000 euros were due.
There are said to have been no concrete negotiations between Bayern and the Frankfurt side so far. When these start, the fee should be one of the main issues. According to “Bild”, an agreement is in sight despite all the differences in the assessment of the market value.
In addition to Toppmöller, Arne Slot was recently brought into play by Holland champion Feyenoord at the SGE.
