Sports director Markus Krösche from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt has denied alleged contact with top English club Liverpool.
Krösche denied a conversation with Jürgen Klopp on the sidelines of the round of 16 first leg against Italian leaders SSC Napoli on Amazon Prime.
The online magazine “The Athletic” had previously reported that the 42-year-old was a possible candidate for the vacant post as sporting director at Liverpool FC.
At the club coached by Klopp, the previous sports director Julian Ward announced his departure at the end of the season last November. Since then, the Reds have been looking for a successor.
The 42-year-old Krösche switched from RB Leipzig to Eintracht within the Bundesliga in 2021, where he signed a contract that was valid until 2025. Since Krösche has been sports director in Frankfurt, the club has won the Europa League and has just reached the round of 16 in the Champions League this season.
