Eintracht captain Sebastian Rode: “An absolute debacle”

Frankfurt was completely beside themselves at the start of the season against FC Bayern. The Eintracht players found clear words after the game.

In the 1:6 defeat in the first game of the new Bundesliga season, Eintracht Frankfurt had nothing to oppose against FC Bayern München Bayern, especially defensively. “We imagined it differently, starting with the euphoria. The first half in particular was an absolute debacle,” said Eintracht captain Sebastian Rode after the game in an interview with “DAZN”.

Coach Oliver Glasner also made no secret of the fact that his team was clearly inferior to FC Bayern Munich on Friday evening. “We have to admit without envy: Bayern were too good for us today,” said the Austrian, who continued: “If you give this offensive a lot of space, you can see what comes out of it – lots of chances and goals.”

Overall, the Hessians were very offensive and often ran into open knives. When FC Bayern attacked, Frankfurt was so high after just 20 minutes that Serge Gnabry and Thomas Müller were able to run towards Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp alone. Müller stumbled the ball, which then hit the post.

The FC Bayern players were naturally in a very positive mood after the game. “It certainly wasn’t wrong going forward today. It made me want to be on the pitch,” said midfielder Joshua Kimmich, who also finds one point of criticism. “We didn’t manage to keep a clean sheet again.”
