A big party at the end of the season: Eintracht Braunschweig celebrated promotion to the second division with its fans on the last day of the game. And played 0: 1 (0: 1) against Viktoria Cologne.
However, the result was irrelevant this afternoon: the Lower Saxony were last Sunday risen “on the sofa”, the guests had already secured the league.
The game ended after the final whistle with a pitch storm and extensive celebrations in the stadium. The pros took a dip in the crowd and then presented themselves to the “Lion” supporters again in the stands. Robin Krausse intoned the classic: “Never again third division, never again, never again!”
Coach Michael Schiele was also in the midst of the celebrations and once again praised his players directly after the game: “We’re proud of the team. That means a lot,” he said in the NDR interview.
Choreo per Eintracht Stadium
The spectators in the almost sold-out Eintracht Stadium celebrated their team long before kick-off. On entering, there was a big choreography in the fan curve to promote keeping the stadium name. This is to be achieved with the help of a crowdfunding campaign.
The fact that the game quickly turned into a better friendly after a lively start didn’t dampen the party spirit – nor did Lenn Jastremski’s opening goal for the visitors (63′). The fans were waiting to finally storm the pitch and celebrate with their rising heroes.
A few impatient players didn’t want to hold out until the final whistle and ran onto the lawn a few minutes before the final whistle, and a few rockets flew. Referee Eric Müller didn’t take the injury time so seriously and blew the whistle to the second. The big party on the square could begin.
Players celebrate in Mallorca
“You can see how radiant the club is. We’ll embody that next season,” said Schiele. He will celebrate the great success on Mallorca with his players. “What happens on the island stays on the island,” said the coach with a wink.
