Eindhoven offers an extra 100 refugees from Ter Apel shelter

From 1 May, the municipality of Eindhoven will house a hundred people who can no longer stay in the reception center in Ter Apel. The group is temporarily housed in the former winter shelter for the homeless on Kanaaldijk-Zuid. Mayor John Jorritsma announced this on Friday afternoon. Earlier this week it became clear that eighty refugees can go to the former tax office in Oss with immediate effect.

It has not been possible for some time to allow asylum seekers from Ter Apel in Groningen to move on to one of the 111 asylum seekers’ centers in our country. These are full, partly because approximately 13,000 status holders are waiting for a home. For that reason, Oss, Nijmegen and Amsterdam already responded earlier this week to a request to accommodate refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Eritrea. Part of the former tax office on Raadhuisplein in Oss is already being used to house refugees from Ukraine.
