Eindhoven will open a new emergency crisis shelter for asylum seekers on February 1. The location on Noord-Brabantlaan will temporarily accommodate two hundred people. In addition, the temporary reception location in the Novotel on Anthony Fokkerweg will be expanded.
Fifty asylum seekers now live in the hotel on Anthony Fokkerweg. An additional 150 people will be added from February. The entire hotel will be used for the reception, together with the communal rooms and the outdoor area. The new residents will arrive on February 1. The location will remain open for at least a year.
Urgent appeal
Eindhoven is expanding emergency shelter because the COA has made an urgent appeal to the municipality due to the shortage of shelter places in the Netherlands. The new crisis location on Noord-Brabantlaan will remain open until there are enough structural solutions. It was previously announced that the temporary COA location on Kanaaldijk-Zuid in Eindhoven will be expanded from 96 to 250 people. The shelter will first be renovated and will be ready in September.
