People who have to be at Eindhoven Airport on Saturday may be affected by actions by climate activists. This can make the airport more difficult to reach. Extinction Rebellion will demonstrate next to the terminal from twelve o’clock.
The airport advises travelers to prepare their trip well and to keep an eye on the website for up-to-date flight information. Extinction Rebellion expects about five hundred demonstrators. The demonstration will be held on the boulevard next to the terminal, from noon to half past two.
A spokesman for the climate action group says in a statement that participants may try to enter the airport grounds, as happened at Schiphol last November. Protesters then climbed the fence and chained themselves to private planes. “But to be honest, that doesn’t seem very sensible to me. This is military territory.”
Among other things, the action group wants Eindhoven Airport to stop polluting, cancel unnecessary flights and give flights a fair price.
