Max Verstappen finished eighth in the second free practice session. The first free practice in Zandvoort had turned out to be a disappointment for Verstappen. He was the first to appear on the track, but had to drop out after eight laps. His car stopped and smoke came out. The gearbox seemed to be the bummer.
The car was repaired between free practice sessions, so that Verstappen was at the start of the second free practice session at the Zandvoort circuit. It did not bring him the desired result. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari were the fastest drivers in the second free practice. Verstappen drove – after the earlier problems with his car – to 1,13,042. That earned him eighth place.

Verstappen eventually finished in nineteenth place in the first free practice with 1,14,714 of the twenty drivers. The Limburger will drive the third and final free practice session tomorrow from 12 noon, before driving qualifying from 3 p.m. in the afternoon. The official race starts on Sunday 3 p.m. in Zandvoort.
