The victims, all from the same family, were in a vehicle when they were attacked with a clean shot
At least eight people who were driving in a vehicle were murdered this Monday in a village in the department of Comayagua, central region of Honduras, reported the spokesman for the National Police, Miguel Martínez.
The bodies of two women were left inside the vehicle’s cabin, while another five, including another female and a minor, were in the rear cargo area, the informant added. Another of the victims, a man, who perhaps tried to flee, was left lying on the side of the road, on the ground.
The eight people, who apparently would be members of the same family, were returning to their community from the city of Comayagua, head of the department of the same name, when Were attacked shooting, according to the preliminary information available on the multiple crime, said Martínez.
He also pointed out that from Comayagua, to the remote site where the massacre occurred, in the sector of the village of El Portillo de la Mora, it is necessary to travel half an hour along a tortuous road, by vehicle.
According to Martínez, the Minister of Security, Ramón Sabillón, authorized the sending of reinforcements to the National Police in the Comayagua sector so that the case can be investigated as soon as possible. The same source indicated there is no idea who perpetrated the violent death of the eight people, and stressed that there are interested sectors, which he did not identify, in destabilizing the government headed by Xiomara Castro, creating violence.
On Saturday, seven people were shot to death in Comayagüela, the twin city of Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, in an incident involving a minor. Criminal violence in Honduras leaves a daily average of between ten and fifteen people dead, according to human rights organizations and police sources.
