Handball Bundesliga team TSV Hannover-Burgdorf also won the third group game in the preliminary round of the European League. The Lower Saxony team prevailed against IK Sävehof on Tuesday evening in their own hall with 27:25 (15:12).

For a long time it looked like a very relaxed affair. In the end, the “warriors” had to tremble against the club from Partille, a district of the second largest Swedish city, Gothenburg. But coach Christian Prokop’s team brought their lead to the finish and are still first in Group G after the third matchday. Next Tuesday there will be a reunion with the Swedes, then the second leg is on.

“Recken” are setting themselves apart from Sävehof

Just two days after the dramatic Bundesliga game at TBV Lemgo Lippe and the winning goal one second before the final siren, the Lower Saxony team needed some time to pull away from Sävehof. It happened after 22 minutes when national player Justus Fischer made it 10:7. It was a three-goal lead (15:12) at the break. Fischer and Renars Uscins each contributed four goals to the lead.

Hannover-Burgdorf got into trouble shortly before the end

Five minutes after the restart, Jonathan Edvardsson gave the North Germans their first five-goal lead in the clash with his youth club (18:13). When Bela Wellmann scored 25:19 (48th), there was a lot to be said for Lower Saxony’s third win in the third group game.

But it didn’t end so smoothly. Because the “Recken” were no longer as focused and mistakes crept into their game, they were only three goals ahead three and a half minutes before the final buzzer (26:23). Prokop took a break. Shortly afterwards it was only a two-goal lead, but ultimately the North Germans managed to win both points despite only scoring once in the last ten minutes. August Pedersen was TSV’s most successful shooter with seven goals.
