The German ice hockey clubs continue to play a leading role in the Champions Hockey League.

Masters EHC Munich recorded their third win in their fourth game with 9:2 (3:1, 3:1, 3:0) against HC Innsbruck on Sunday, as did Adler Mannheim, who won 6:0 (3:0, 0:0, 3:0) against the previously unbeaten Finnish former champion Lukko Rauma.

On Saturday, runner-up ERC Ingolstadt suffered their first defeat with a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Czech representatives Dynamo Pardubice. Munich and Mannheim are in the top group with ten points each, as is Ingolstadt with one point less.

Kris Bennett (1st), vice world champion Daniel Fischbuch (13th), Linden Vey (18th), Stefan Loibl (44th), Korbinian Holzer (45th) and David Wolf (54th) scored the goals for Mannheim .

Konrad Abeltshauser (5th), Ben Smith (9th/30th/44th), Trevor Parks (17th/57th), Austin Ortega (24th/53rd) and Andrew MacWilliam (25th) scored for Munich.

The current CHL season will be played in a new mode. Instead of 32, only 24 teams are taking part. These will not be divided into groups as before, but will be listed in an overall table in a “regular season” (August 31st to October 18th).

Each team only plays once against six different opponents in three home and away games. The best 16 teams advance to the knockout rounds.
