Egypt wants to open the border with Gaza to allow foreign citizens to leave the country

AL-ARISH (dpa-AFX) – According to an Egyptian security source, the only border crossing from the Gaza Strip to neighboring Egypt will be opened for the departure of foreign nationals on Monday. According to the information, preparations are underway. The import of humanitarian aid supplies should also be made possible via the Rafah border crossing.

The border crossing is currently out of service due to Israeli air strikes. It is the only crossing into the Gaza Strip that is not controlled by Israel. Because of the closure of the Rafah border crossing, there is no way for people in the Gaza Strip to leave the area.

A week ago on Saturday, hundreds of terrorists crossed the border into Israel in a surprise attack on behalf of Hamas, which rules in the Gaza Strip, and caused a bloodbath there. Since then, Israel has been attacking targets in the Gaza Strip. According to the army, militant Palestinians have so far fired more than 6,000 rockets at Israel./arj/DP/he
